Sweating is an elementary process for balancing the temperature of the body. However, excessive sweating – hyperhidrosis – frequently represents a serious psychological burden for patients.
Generally, a distinction is made between two different kinds of sweating: thermal regulatory sweating and emotionally caused sweating. Excessive sweating, hyperhidrosis, may either occur as a general (secondary) condition or locally (primary). The most frequent form, primary hyperhidrosis, generally affects armpits, feet, hands or face. These areas are primarily responsible for emotional sweating.
Emotional sweating most frequently appears in the armpits, coupled with the fear of smelling unpleasantly or traces of the sweat being visible to everyone. A vicious cycle which needs to be broken before the personal level of suffering continues to grow over time, despite avoiding certain clothing and increasing physical hygiene.
A hyperhidrosis treatment with botulinum toxin under the armpits or on hands and feet may terminate your ordeal and lead to more self-confidence and well-being.

Hyperhidrosis treatment using botulinum toxin can eliminate the production of sweat in armpits, the palms of the hands and on the soles of the feet, or at least significantly reduce it. For this purpose, a punctual injection of botulinum toxin is made flat under the skin into the area afflicted by excessive sweating. The effect will set in after approx. 5-7 days. After about 6-9 months, the effects will slowly disappear, making repeat treatments recommendable.
The application of botulinum toxin for the reduction of excessive sweating only takes a few minutes. No local anesthesia or anything comparable is necessary.
You will be able to work on the same day again. We like to schedule a follow-up appointment with our patients in order to check up on the desired effect.
